For the WorkMarket Onboarding project we met in-person as a triad (Dev, Product, UX) to kick off this initiative. We identified the MVP, story mapped and outlined the "jobs to be done". By meeting in person what would have potentially taken a month, we were able to take a few days of dedicated time to move us forward as our senior stakeholders were wanting to prioritize and get this project on a rapid track.
We were able to identify personas for the overall Talent feature within the product which focused on existing 10-99 Client and employer relationships and ways a Client could recruit new talent. They used WorkMarket as a platform to organize and pay their employees as they already had jobs lined up for them.
One area of friction was the Onboarding process. We needed an easy and efficient way for employees to onboard to get paid. The previous experience had an array of issues. I did an overall 'existing experience' audit with screenshots so we could hone in one drop offs, usability issues (backed by analytics) and to visualize obvious issues. After we identified problem areas we ensured to align with our business and MVP strategies. I used OOUX (object oriented UX) and various other methods in this discovery phase. I was able to come up with new flows in Figma and attached wireframes to those flows for potential solutions. We researched those options to validate usability and terminology (we mixed internal and external terms in our UI which was very confusing for our users) which were then turned into high fidelity mocks and flows. Our improvements included decreasing outreach / emails from three to one which highlighted only the action or confirmation emails vs. getting many status related ones which were contusing to the user. We also decreased the steps in the flows by eliminating a whole wizard because we could reuse the data we already had. Overall the Clients were very happy with the new UX, drop offs were decreased and we were able to move to our design system eliminating tech and UX debt.
I also worked on other Talent feature related UX improvements including: document management for Clients, a new employee details page for Clients to see their talent, and new recruiting campaign landing pages. I always start in Miro or low fidelity to highlight issues or improvements for triad discussions and alignment, then move into high fidelity.
